Minor League Scorebook

Feeling sick last night, so I went to bed early without getting this post out:

News

Scores

2006-05-10: Salt Lake 3, Omaha 5 #
Aybar, E: 0-4, 1 K
Willits, R: 1-4, 1 K
Gorneault: 2-4, 1 RBI
Morales: 0-4, 2 K
Mathis, J: 1-4, 3 K
Eylward: 1-2, 1 HR, 1 RBI, 2 BB, 1 K
Bland: (L, 0-2), 3.1 IP, 3 ER, 5 H, 0 K, 1 BB, 6.75 ERA
Nate Bland didn't survive the fourth against the Omaha Royals. Ouch.

Jered Weaver gets the start tonight against Kyle Snyder.

2006-05-10: Corpus Christi 11, Arkansas 8 #
Bacon: 3-5, 1 2B, 2 K
Wood: 1-4, 1 2B, 2 RBI, 1 BB, 1 K
Aspito: 2-4, 1 HR, 1 RBI, 2 K
Wilson: 1-2
Rodland: 3-3, 3 RBI
Rodriguez, R: 5.1 IP, 6 ER, 8 H, 4 K, 2 BB, 1 HR, 10.31 ERA
Buckley: (BS, 2)(L, 1-2) (in relief), 1.1 IP, 4 ER, 5 H, 1 K, 0 BB, 2 HR, 3.86 ERA
Ricardo Rodriguez goes back into struggle mode, although the homer against him came off the bat of Josh Anderson and not Hunter Pence, who homered twice against two different Travs relievers. Eric Rodland had a good offensive night, as did Dwaine Bacon.
2006-05-10: Visalia 0, Rancho Cucamonga 3 #
Sandoval, F: 2-3, 1 2B
Rodriguez, S: 0-4, 2 K
Collins: 0-4, 1 K
Toussaint: 1-3, 1 RBI, 2 K
Rodriguez: (W, 1-2), 9.0 IP, 0 ER, 5 H, 4 K, 2 BB, 3.38 ERA
How long is it going to take before these guys figure out that there are three Rodriguezes on this team? Anyway, there's no complete game victory that you can't call brilliant, and Francisco Rodriguez had one, although of course you'd like to see more strikeouts. Throwing 115 pitches, it was the Quakes' first complete game shutout since Steven Shell accomplished the feat on August 13, 2004; he was assisted by a pair of double-plays. A pair of Visalia errors helped the Quakes to their victory, keyed in part by Drew Toussaint's RBI single.
2006-05-10: Cedar Rapids 4, Dayton 6 #
Coon: 1-2, 2 BB
Statia: 1-4, 1 2B, 1 K
Morris: 2-4, 1 HR, 1 RBI
Trumbo: 0-4, 2 K
Madrigal: 1-4, 1 HR, 2 RBI, 1 K
Shearer: (L, 1-3), 6.2 IP, 4 ER, 4 H, 3 K, 6 BB, 4.58 ERA
Too many more games like this — and he's had a lot of them — and they'll switch Mark Trumbo back to the mound.
2006-05-10: AZL Angels did not play
2006-05-10: Orem did not play
2006-05-10: Memphis 4, Las Vegas 5 #
Valdez: 2-4, 2 RBI, 1 BB
Young, D: 2-5, 1 2B
Guzman, J: 2-4, 1 RBI, 1 BB, 1 K
Loney: 2-3, 1 2B, 1 RBI, 1 BB
Robles: 0-4, 1 RBI, 1 BB, 1 K
Houlton: 1-1
Houlton: 5.1 IP, 4 ER, 7 H, 3 K, 5 BB, 1 HR, 5.65 ERA
Hull: 1.2 IP, 0 ER, 3 H, 3 K, 0 BB, 0.61 ERA
Kuo: 0.1 IP, 0 ER, 0 H, 0 K, 0 BB, 2.08 ERA
Carter: (W, 1-1) (in relief), 1.0 IP, 0 ER, 3 H, 1 K, 0 BB, 1.50 ERA
The 51's won it on Oscar Robles' bases-loaded walk in the bottom of the ninth against Redbirds reliever John Riedling, who failed to record a single out. Starter D.J. Houlton was charged with four earned runs, and still can't pitch at this level.
2006-05-10: Carolina 0, Jacksonville 1 #
Abreu: 1-4, 1 2B, 1 K
Hu: 1-2, 1 BB
Kemp: 0-4, 2 K

Andy LaRoche drove in the only Jacksonville run.

Denker, T: 0-6, 1 K

2006-05-10: Ogden did not play
