Diamond Leung reports that the Dodgers will recall Ramon Troncoso to the big club, probably to replace Hiroki Kuroda, who will hit the DL with shoulder tendinitis and an impingement.

Scores

2008-06-19: Salt Lake 4, Colorado Springs 5 (12 innings) #
Rodriguez, S: 3-6, 2 RBI
Sandoval, F: 2-6, 1 RBI, 1 K
Wood: 1-4, 1 BB
Wilson: 2-5
Pavkovich: 2-4, 1 2B, 1 RBI, 2 K
Green: 6.0 IP, 1 R, 1 ER, 3 H, 1 K, 1 BB, 4.64 ERA
Bonilla: (BS, 1), 1.1 IP, 0 R, 0 ER, 0 H, 1 K, 0 BB, 4.62 ERA
Jepsen: (L, 0-2) (in relief), 2.1 IP, 2 R, 1 ER, 2 H, 5 K, 0 BB, 1 HR, 3.38 ERA
A humiliating loss for Kevin Jepsen, who not only gave up the tying run in the bottom of the 11th but surrendered the winning run on a wild pitch in the bottom of the 12th; catcher Tim Duff recovered the ball but threw it away to third in a vain attempt to nail Jonathan Herrera. Too bad, because Nick Green pitched a fine game.
2008-06-19: Springfield 9, Arkansas 8 (11 innings) #
Sutton: 4-6, 1 2B
Ortiz, W: 3-6, 1 RBI
Stavisky: 2-5, 1 RBI, 1 BB, 1 K
Johnson: 2-4, 2 HR, 3 RBI, 1 BB
Czarniecki: 1-4, 2 BB
Smith, Cor: 2-5, 2 RBI, 1 BB, 1 K
Brandt: 1.2 IP, 2 R, 2 ER, 3 H, 2 K, 1 BB, 4.82 ERA
Marek: 2.0 IP, 0 R, 0 ER, 1 H, 3 K, 0 BB, 2.91 ERA
Rodriguez, R: (L, 0-2) (in relief), 1.0 IP, 1 R, 1 ER, 1 H, 0 K, 0 BB, 2.35 ERA
The Travs came out on the wrong end of extras, something that seems to be going around. 27-year-old Ben Johnson hit a pair of leadoff homers in the fourth and sixth, his 15th and 16th of the season. Dan Denham got the start and a no-decision in his second-worst outing of the year, allowing six runs, five earned. Rafael Rodriguez took the loss, giving up the go-ahead run on a pair of consecutive wild pitches in the 11th.
2008-06-19: Rancho Cucamonga 13, Inland Empire 12 #
Bourjos: 3-5, 1 RBI, 1 BB
Nieves: 2-6, 2 2B, 3 RBI, 1 K
Conger: 1-4, 1 RBI, 2 BB, 1 K
Trumbo: 2-6, 1 HR, 1 RBI, 1 K
Mount: 3-6, 1 RBI, 2 K
Phillips: 2-5, 1 RBI, 1 K
Norman: 2-5
O'Sullivan: (W, 8-4), 5.0 IP, 7 R, 7 ER, 9 H, 3 K, 1 BB, 1 HR, 6.35 ERA
Cassevah: (S, 1), 1.2 IP, 2 R, 2 ER, 3 H, 1 K, 0 BB, 5.01 ERA
Inland Empire looked to blow it open early, taking a 7-1 lead at the end of three. Rancho got two more on Mark Trumbo's leadoff homer and three singles in the fourth, but that's where it stayed until the sixth. That's when the heavens opened on 66ers pitchers Joseph Jones and David Pfeiffer, who allowed a fusillade of singles (seven in all), and a pair of walks, giving up eight runs between them in that inning. The 66ers defense was also suspect, recording a pair of errors that allowed two unearned runs to score.

Inland Empire then turned the tables on Rancho for three in the bottom of the third, when the Quakes' defense underwent a similarly embarrassing collapse (one error, two unearned runs). Both sides posted two-run ninth innings, and Rancho held the lead with the tying run at first.

Sean O'Sullivan got the win despite a terrible outing, and 66ers starter Alberto Bastardo got a five-inning no-decision despite a fairly good game.

2008-06-19: Quad Cities 5, Cedar Rapids 2 #
Fuller: 2-4
Romine: 1-4, 1 K
De Los Santos: 0-4, 1 K
Bell: 7.0 IP, 1 R, 1 ER, 7 H, 6 K, 1 BB, 2.25 ERA
Armstrong: (BS, 1)(L, 0-2) (in relief), 0.2 IP, 4 R, 4 ER, 3 H, 1 K, 1 BB, 8.22 ERA
Trevor Bell had an excellent game in his first start this year with Cedar Rapids, lost for him by his bullpen, Chris Armstrong in particular, who surrendered four of the Swing's five runs.

Four Midwest League teams have been affected by the recent floods, with Quad Cities losing more dates, nine, than any other team in that league.

"Right now, (Modern Woodmen Park) is dry, but it's an island surrounded by water as far as the eye can see," said Quad Cities owner Dave Heller, who attended the MWL All-Star game in Midland on Tuesday.

"The city built a 400-foot long wooden bridge last week in one day to get fans from our front door to dry land and last Friday we had 4,700 in our park and 4,000 on Saturday," Heller added.

Now, that's dedication.
2008-06-19: Orem 11, Ogden 6 #
Groth: 4-6, 2 2B, 4 RBI, 1 K
Jimenez: 2-5, 1 RBI, 2 K
Jacobo: 2-5, 2 K
Bailey: 3-5, 2 RBI
Perez, D: 2-3, 1 2B
Short: 4.1 IP, 4 R, 3 ER, 4 H, 3 K, 4 BB, 6.23 ERA
Taylor: (W, 1-0) (in relief), 2.2 IP, 0 R, 0 ER, 2 H, 4 K, 1 BB, 0.00 ERA
Orem scored in crooked numbers in four frames, including a five-run seventh that had four singles, a scoring fielding error by 2B Elian Herrera, two batters hit by pitches, and a double steal. It was probably a good thing, because starter Baron Short didn't last very long; in general, the pitching was, uh, erratic, with five wild pitches and four batters plunked, and that doesn't even count the passed ball by Orem catcher Alberto Rosario, which allowed a run to score to cap Ogden's four-run second. Shockingly, nobody homered.
2008-06-19: AZL Angels did not play
The GCL Dodgers' season started today, but the AZL Angels won't get started until Sunday, June 22, against the Cubs.
2008-06-19: Tacoma 8, Las Vegas 1 #
Repko: 0-4, 3 K
Paul: 0-4, 1 BB
Tiffee: 4-5, 1 2B
Griffin: 2-4, 1 K
Rivera, R: 2-4
Ruan: 2-4, 1 2B
Pollok: (L, 4-3), 5.0 IP, 2 R, 1 ER, 6 H, 3 K, 1 BB, 4.01 ERA
Miller: 2.0 IP, 1 R, 0 ER, 3 H, 1 K, 1 BB, 4.93 ERA
Dwayne Pollok did okay for himself, but it was really Mike Koplove who let things get out of hand. Koplove got lucky after loading the bases in the top of the sixth with one out when he got Yung Chi Chen to hit into a flyball double play that saw Luis Rivera out at the plate. But his luck wouldn't hold in the top of the seventh, when he walked leadoff man Bryan LaHair. Failing to retire the next three batters as well, that set the stage for a four-run uprising eventually quelled by Greg Miller, who got Michael Saunders to line out into an unassisted double play to make the frame's first two outs.
2008-06-19: Jacksonville 8, Birmingham 5 #
De Jesus: 1-3, 2 BB, 1 K
Hoffmann: 2-4, 1 RBI, 1 BB, 1 K
May: 1-3, 2 RBI, 2 BB
Mitchell: 2-4, 1 2B, 2 RBI, 1 BB
Godwin: 2-5, 1 2B, 1 3B, 1 RBI
Arias, M: (W, 7-3), 6.0 IP, 3 R, 3 ER, 6 H, 1 K, 2 BB, 2 HR, 4.90 ERA
Schlichting: 2.0 IP, 1 R, 1 ER, 3 H, 2 K, 1 BB, 3.50 ERA
Hammes: 1.0 IP, 1 R, 1 ER, 2 H, 0 K, 1 BB, 6.46 ERA
The Suns took a two-run lead in the first and never looked back, thanks to a five-run explosion in the third that saw the Suns belt three doubles. Marlon Arias picked up the win with a by-the-rules quality start.
2008-06-19: Rancho Cucamonga 13, Inland Empire 12 #
Pedroza: 3-6, 1 2B, 1 RBI, 1 K
Hunt: 3-4, 1 RBI, 1 BB
Santana, C: 1-3, 3 RBI, 1 BB, 1 K
Giles: 2-5, 1 RBI, 1 K
Van Slyke: 1-5, 1 HR, 2 RBI, 2 K
Lara: 2-4, 1 RBI, 1 BB
Bastardo: 5.0 IP, 3 R, 2 ER, 7 H, 4 K, 2 BB, 1 HR, 5.91 ERA
Jones: (BS, 1)(L, 2-3) (in relief), 0.1 IP, 8 R, 6 ER, 6 H, 0 K, 2 BB, 4.11 ERA
Pfeiffer: 1.2 IP, 0 R, 0 ER, 1 H, 2 K, 0 BB, 10.42 ERA
2008-06-19: Great Lakes 7, Dayton 8 (13 innings) #
Lambo: 3-6, 2 2B, 1 BB, 1 K
Silverio: 2-5, 1 BB
Ortiz: 3-6, 1 HR, 4 RBI, 1 K
Mattingly: 0-5, 1 RBI, 3 K
Mathews: 0-3, 2 BB, 2 K
Miller: 4.0 IP, 6 R, 6 ER, 8 H, 1 K, 4 BB, 3.30 ERA
Sartor: 3.1 IP, 0 R, 0 ER, 0 H, 6 K, 1 BB, 4.35 ERA
Sanfler: (L, 1-3) (in relief), 0.1 IP, 1 R, 1 ER, 1 H, 0 K, 0 BB, 1 HR, 4.31 ERA
Knotted at 7-7 after six, Brandon Waring's one-out, walkoff homer off Miguel Sanfler ended this one. Jaime Ortiz hit a two-out, three-run blast in the top of the first in the loss.
2008-06-19: Orem 11, Ogden 6 #
Baez: 2-4, 1 2B, 1 BB, 1 K
Russell: 1-3, 1 RBI, 2 BB, 1 K
Orr: 2-5, 1 2B, 2 K
Boothe: 5.0 IP, 4 R, 4 ER, 6 H, 8 K, 1 BB, 7.20 ERA
Roberts: (L, 0-1) (in relief), 1.0 IP, 4 R, 2 ER, 5 H, 0 K, 0 BB, 18.00 ERA
2008-06-19: GCL Dodgers 7, GCL Mets 1 #
Garcia, J: 2-2, 1 2B
Sands: 1-5, 1 HR, 4 RBI, 2 K
Jacobs: 0-2, 1 RBI, 3 BB
Bert: 3-4, 1 RBI, 1 K
Perez, E: 4.0 IP, 1 R, 1 ER, 3 H, 3 K, 2 BB, 2.25 ERA
Fructuoso: (W, 1-0) (in relief), 4.0 IP, 0 R, 0 ER, 1 H, 5 K, 2 BB, 0.00 ERA
The complex leagues start, and so the GCL Dodgers' season... right fielder Gerald Sands hit a grand slam in the top of the eighth to highlight scoring in that five-run frame. Frenchman Joris Bert returns and got three hits on the night, a good deal for him. I was surprised to see him here, considering.

Comments:
Times have been rough of late on the farm. But in the interest of the silver lining lobby, I do see a few highlights:

Bourjos and Norman are a combined 64-3 in stolen bases at Rancho, they both can hit, and Norman in particular seems to have a clue at the plate. Given our geriatric outfield, I'll take 'em.

Bobby Wilson is shaping up to be an able complement to Mathis/Napoli, which means we may have trade capital at that position.

Stephen Marek is clearly a reliever; the move to the pen was a good one.

Youngsters Reckling and Walden may be actual prospects.
