Witness To A Fatality
However awful the Dodgers may be from time to time, one of the joys of being a major market team's fan is the near-guarantee that the Dodgers won't appear in the cellar, 1992 notwithstanding. The same cannot be said, however, of the Diamondbacks, whose .302 WPCT puts them in line for a 113 loss season. Richie Sexson -- lost. Steve Finley -- gone. Randy Johnson -- not gone, but the New York press would have had him so. It's gory and sad, fascinating and hard to watch all at the same time, as a fatal traffic accident.
Update: Random Fandom notes that with yesterday's 7-5 loss to the Expos, the Diamondbacks have guaranteed they will not have a winning season.
