And thus the opportunity to get some insurance runs -- and a win -- was lost today, by Izzy's GIDP. Afterwards, the bullpen melted down like a slice of gouda in a microwave, and the final result, a cheese omelet. Yolk's on you, boys.

And, thus the end, for a while, of the weak opponents. The rest of the month, we face the Cubs, Marlins, and Braves -- ten straight games against postseason contenders. Following that, an interlude with the Expos, then the Mets, and the Snakes for one game. Between now and the 30th, no days off. It's gonna be a grind, and that seven game lead is gonna start taking a beating.
