Angels Roster Moves
As the other Angel bloggers have already noted, the September callups:
- Shane Halter: The Little Glove of Concrete got hauled back up to the majors again. What I think everyone else overlooked was that Halter played 17 games as an outfielder in his latest stint in the minors, versus 4 at 1B, 6 at 2B, 3 at 3B, and 7 at SS. Translation: expect to see him as a fifth outfielder rather than a reserve infielder.
- Andres Galarraga, whom we can assume will take on an occaisional DH role.
- Casey Kotchman is now with the big club.
- Ben Weber and his obscene 8.59 ERA have been DFA'd to Salt Lake.
- Barry Wesson has been outrighted to Salt Lake. (Maybe somebody more familiar with the minor leagues can distinguish the difference between a DFA and an outrighting.)
- Finally -- FWIW -- I just heard from a coworker, who is also a cousin of Nick Gorneault, that Nick has been promoted to Salt Lake. Gorneault hit .282/.343/.484 for AA Arkansas, with 21 home runs. Update: Confirmed on the Stingers' website.
