OT: Save Betamax
The amount of bad legislation going through Congress is just astonishing. One of the most ridiculous is the INDUCE Act, which seeks to overturn Sony Corp. v. Universal City Studios, Inc., the Supreme Court decision that decided VCRs were legal. Now Hollywood wants to make sure it can veto any future technology that can copy pretty much anything, declaring makers of such machines "induce [copyright] infringement". Obviously, this has huge import for the computer industry, and for consumers, as it would put an end to traditional fair use. SaveBetamax.org is organizing a call-in to register with Congress just how stupid this idea is. Take a moment and give your Senators a call.
