Brighter (?) Minds Than Mine: Voulez-Vous..., Part 2
More poking and prodding the postseason contenders; you can find mine here.
Update: I'm making an exception to my usual rule of never altering the date of a post once it's up and moving this one. I'll keep updating as I find more stuff.
- Baseball Prospectus:
- Dayn Perry takes the Twins in five, citing a blown Yankees bullpen, exhausted starters, and a wobbly Giambi.
- Perry, again: believe it or not, the Dodgers have a bit of an advantage over their NL competitors (for all save the Astros). Why? Because teams with a legit ace have a bit of an edge. Good news for the Red Sox and Astros, bad news for the Angels, for whom Escobar and Lackey are their top two entrants.
- Nate Silver likes the Astros in four.
- Jonah Keri: Cards in four
- Red Sox in four
- Twins in four
- Dodgers in four
- Astros in four
- Tim Kurkjian, ESPN.com:
- Cards over Dodgers in five
- Astros over Braves in five;
- Angels over Red Sox in four;
- Yankees over Twins in four.
- Johnny Damon would have preferred to see the A's, whom they beat 8-1 in the regular season, than the Angels. "They're the best team we've seen all year", quoth Johnny Damon; they have winning records against both (11-8 vs the Yanks, 5-4 vs the Angels).
- Boy of Summer:
- Angels over Red Sox in four
- Yankees over Twins in five
- Cardinals over Dodgers in four
- Astros over Braves in four
- Yankees over Angels in seven
- Astros over Cards in six
- Yankees over Astros in seven
- Though he won't come out and say it, Mike Vaccaro of the New York Post angles for the Yanks over Twins in three: the 2003 "Twins were just another grease stain on the Yankees' crowded playoff highway." Nothing like the Gotham papers to find a nutshell putdown.
- Aaron Gleeman:
- Twins over Yankees in five
- Red Sox over Angels in five
- Cardinals over Dodgers in four
- LAist:
- Red Sox over Angels in four
- Dodgers over Cardinals in five
- Kevin Hench:
- Cardinals over Dodgers in four
- Astros over Braves in five
- Yankees over Twins in four
- Red Sox over Angels in five
- John Donovan and Jacob Luft at Sports Illustrated/CNN.com:
- Red Sox over Angels in four
- Cardinals over Dodgers in four
- Astros over Braves in five
- Yankees over Twins in five
- ESPN.com's roundup: John Kruk changed his mind last night, and now likes the Sox in four over the Angels (me too). The concensus view: Angels and Dodgers out in the first round.
- Inside The Park takes the Cards in four.
- Though I never asked to be spammed by their mailer, I keep getting the dam things... so here's Peter Schilling, Jr. in Mudville Magazine's pitches:
- Twins in four
- Red Sox in four
- Atlanta in five
- Dodgers in four
- Angels in four
- Twins in five
- Dodgers in five
- Astros in five
- ALCS: Angels in seven
- NLCS: Dodgers in seven
- WS: Angels in seven
- Texas Rangers Blog (with no listed number of games):
- Twins over Yankees
- Red Sox over Angels
- Cards over Dodgers
- Astros over Braves
- ALCS: Twins over Red Sox
- NLCS: Cards over Astros
- WS: Twins over Cards
