Penultimate: Yankees 8, Twins 4

NYY in 5
this is the only year in any recent memory that I respect the twins this much, mainly because of santana/radke/silva

Respect for the Twins? Sure, they won their division. They might win today, but watching them play yesterday, it was clear that Santana will have to pitch the game of his life today just to keep the Twins alive. The Yanks just battered Carlos Silva, six earned runs in five innings, one home run, bleeding him to death on a series of singles in the second inning, then allowing a two-run shot by Bernie Williams that sealed the game. This team has what it takes to win a weak division but not enough to get to the big show. And, IMO, it's not so much the fault of their players or front office as it is an unfortunate consequence of the unbalanced schedule and the three-division format. If the annual yardstick for success is beating the neighborhood sandlot nine, if all the preparations and care go into readiness to battle the high school team, how predictable does a rout at the hands of the gigabuck Yankees become?

Batgirl is optimistic. My opinion: we'll see.
