Red Sox 9, Angels 3
The Angels just aren't the team they were in 2002, and nowhere is that more apparent than on defense. Figgins can play almost any position on the infield, but he's not as good as Glaus was defensively in 2002 (-2 RAA2 for Figgy in 2004 vs 10 RAA2 for Glaus in 2002). Anderson's a long elevator ride down from Erstad in center; Amezega is a hole offensively.
So, why is there reason for optimism for the Angels -- barely -- but not the Dodgers?
- The Angels were actually hitting Schilling. They didn't have much to show for it, as Vlad's bat went silent. It could be good for the next time we see him -- if it gets that far.
- Scioscia gave up on the game anyway, hence the start for Amezega. This is the free set of steak knives they're giving to the Red Sox.
- Uh... thinking ... the Rally Monkey might rescue them?
