Red Sox 9, Angels 3

The Angels just aren't the team they were in 2002, and nowhere is that more apparent than on defense. Figgins can play almost any position on the infield, but he's not as good as Glaus was defensively in 2002 (-2 RAA2 for Figgy in 2004 vs 10 RAA2 for Glaus in 2002). Anderson's a long elevator ride down from Erstad in center; Amezega is a hole offensively.

So, why is there reason for optimism for the Angels -- barely -- but not the Dodgers?

Seriously, the offense is Vlad, and on a good day, Glaus. But there isn't much beyond that who can hit for power at the moment. Back in 2002, the Angels' first loss to the Yankees was a close one that could have been decided by bringing in Percival early; not this blowout. I'm sticking with my prediction that the Angels go down in four.
