A's Sale Nearer

Huh? USA Today reports LA developer Steve Wolff has a 90-day clock ticking to decide whether he's serious about buying the A's. No word on whether they'll subsequently be called the Los Angeles Athletics of Oakland.

Carlos Beltran Not An Astro After All

Nope, not an Astro, so maybe a Cub or a Met? So far, the Yanks have been coy, but with the luxury tax they'll carry next year, the thinking seems to be, maybe not.

Update: The Seattle Post-Intelligencer ran a wire story saying Beltran is finalizing a deal with the Mets instead, for $112M.

Update: For $117M/7 years, says AP.
