When You Pry It From My Cold, Dead Hands

Boston first baseman Doug "Unspellable" Mientkiewicz refused to give up the ball that made the last out in the 2004 World Series. The Red Sox want it back, but Dougie Baseball is having none of it, calling the ball "my retirement fund". Given his .215 average last year with the team, it's obvious he doesn't expect anyone to pay him for actually playing... Batgirl opines that "Oh, and Doug, honey, Batgirl loves you, she does. She adores you and your sticky helmet. But sometimes love is hard, and sometimes silence is golden." Truer words...

Comments:
What a dick. Of all the people who should have that ball, Doug Minke... Meinkevich... whatever... is just about at the bottom of the list.

Well, do remember it's the Boston press. I suspect the not-so-cash-poor Red Sox could have ball if they wanted, and asked with the right number of zeros.
