Baseball America On Top 10 Dodger Prospects

Is the Dodgers' farm system jinxed? I begin to wonder. Take a look at Baseball Prospectus' top ten Dodger prospects list. What's wrong with this picture?
  1. Joel Guzman, ss
  2. Chad Billingsley, rhp
  3. Edwin Jackson, rhp
  4. James Loney, 1b
  5. Andy LaRoche, 3b
  6. Russell Martin, c
  7. Greg Miller, lhp
  8. Blake DeWitt, 3b
  9. Jonathan Broxton, rhp
  10. Chuck Tiffany, lhp
All of them have been drafted since 2001, and most since 2002. Not one has had success in any level above AA, which might be a disturbing sign save for these mitigating factors: Interestingly, the one pickup I expected to make this list -- Dioner Navarro -- didn't even appear, even though he doesn't surpass their cutoff of 130 AB.

I wonder if Navarro was named top 5th with the Yankees...

The Yanks' farm system is in pretty serious disrepair, though it is improving. In John Manuel's chat, he was actually talking up the Yanks' farm a bit, praising their 2004 draft and noting Robinson Cano could be a starting second baseman in the Bronx as early as next year. So they're not in the dire straights they were even as of 2003.
