Dodgers Pick Ticketmaster

Via PR Newswire:
The Los Angeles Dodgers and Ticketmaster, the world's leading ticketing company, today announced a comprehensive ticketing agreement whereby the Dodgers will implement Ticketmaster's state-of-the-art ticketing technology to enrich the Dodgers brand and fan experience and enhance the value and ease of single game and season ticket packages.
I have wondered, for a long time, just how big a ripoff Ticketmaster is. The first clue came when I went to see David Byrne at the Wiltern. The Wiltern was in those days a "Ticketmaster only" facility, which meant that, even if you appeared at the box office to buy tickets, you still had to bear the burden of the Ticketmaster charge, for no apparent reason. Was Ticketmaster providing kickbacks to the owners? I don't know, but it sounds right; but if so, why not just raise the price of admission? I shake my head and move on.

The Dodgers' new ticketing phone number is 866-DODGERS (363-4377), and of course, dodgers.com will still work.
