Pickoff Moves
More Late Signings
Almost everything wrapped up at this point --- Rotoworld says Eric Byrnes and Oakland have agreed to a one-year, $2.2M deal.
- The Dallas Morning News reports Pedro Astacio has been signed to a major league contract with the Rangers, for one year and $800k with incentives to $2.5M.
- The Angels have agreed to terms with UT Robb Quinlan, RHP Matt Hensley, and RHP Joe Saunders. My guess is that the contracts for Hensley and Saunders are tipoffs that they'll see action at the big club this year. All three are on the 40-man roster.
- The Cubs signed third baseman Aramis Ramirez to a one-year deal worth $8.95M. RHP starter Carlos Zambrano was also signed, to a one-year, $3.76M deal. Both were arbitration eligible.
- Not a signing, but a rumor from the Denver Post: Charles Johnson to Tampa in exchange for Shawn Riggans. Who knows, maybe it's better that DePo didn't get him last year.
OT: The Wrong Dog Chasing The Wrong Car
The Times reports that Enron traders were caught giggling whilst turning off Nevada power plants, hoping to drive up the price of electricity in California. Immoral? Yes. Unethical? Absolutely. But when the legislature falls for sneer-quoted "deregulation", hook, line, and stinker, who among their number will spend time at the defense table?Newer› ‹Older
