Then And Now: The Springfield Nuclear Nine
Don't have a cow, man, but here's a great post at 11th And Washington about the Simpsons episode "Homer At The Bat". Mainly of interest because of all the then-current (or once-) Dodgers appearing in the roll: Darryl Strawberry, Mike Scioscia, and Steve Sax, and of course Jose Canseco because of his current blogworthiness.Padres Next In Line For Fuson?
Thanks to Padres Fan Since '76 for this San Diego Union-Tribune story indicating that the Pads have interviewed former A's superscout, Grady Fuson. Earlier speculation indicated he had been offered a job with the A's as a consultant.Hockey's Dead, Eh?
Yup, and now that it's official, the worrying over how this will affect baseball can commence. Remember that the current CBA ends after next year, baseball has an antitrust exemption the NHL does not enjoy, and has rising attendance and cash flow (witness the nutty contracts given out this offseason) more or less across the board; when even Billy Beane can take on Jason Kendall's nutty contract, something's going right somewhere. I see just as much possibility of a strike after 2006 as I do of a quick settlement. Much depends on how many owners join self-described labor "hawk", Pittsburgh's Kevin McClatchy; if they're feeling flush, maybe not so many, but if the Yanks win another World Series in 2005, look out below.Newer› ‹Older
