Rotoworld Picks AL West Top Ten Prospects
Rotoworld (read: executive editor Matthew Pouliot) picks the top ten prospects from each club in the AL West. The Angels names you're probably familiar with, possibly because so many of them also appeared on Baseball America's list:
Postscriptum: I am working on something somewhat more substantial; hopefully, it should be up tonight or early tomorrow. This being the offseason, you'd think I could get to more actual analysis than I have.
- Casey Kotchman
- Dallas McPherson
- Kendry Morales
- Ervin Santana
- Jeff Mathis
- Steven Shell
- Erick Aybar
- Brandon Wood
- Alberto Callaspo
- Howie Kendrick
The Angels are ridiculously deep with middle infield talent. Sean Rodriguez would have made 25 of the 30 top-10 lists and Maicer Izturis also would have had a spot on a few. On this list, there was only room for a .355-hitting second baseman because 2004 first-round pick Jered Weaver hasn’t signed. With Weaver, the Angels would have the best top 10 of any organization.Leading to the oft-asked question, why spend so much money on Orlando Cabrera? And why hasn't Weaver been signed yet, dammit?
