Dioner Navarro, Prospect Notes
I love you with all my heartApropos after The Fourth Outfielder declares Dioner Navarro "as the better prospect" of him and Russ Martin, a couple of interesting side notes. First, Jim Callis at Baseball America's "Ask BA" column answers a question about the player who's jumped the furthest to get to their organizational number one ranking. Last year, that was Dioner Navarro for the Yanks (which maybe says more about the Yankees system than it does for Navarro).
And I hope we will never part
Oh, please stay by me, Dioner
Second, in case you wondered whether any of these player rankings mean anything, a Baseball Prospectus reader writes in with a statistical analysis of several different projection systems to see how well they worked over time. BPro came in first over the period 2000-2002 looking at Win Shares times ranking... though I'm not sure that's the way I'd do it. Maybe more like, is there a correlation between Win Shares and ranking? But what do I know.
