Matt Welch's OC Register Editorial On Steroids Hype
Not much time for blogging today, but I did want to point out Matt Welch has a very good editorial piece in the Orange County Register on steroids stupidity. Reading comments like these from fascist McCain ("The first thing Mark McGwire should do is get himself a new lawyer. I was saddened by what he had to say, and it's unfortunate because he's one of America's heroes."), you wonder how creeps like him get elected. What crime was he supposed to be accused of, again? Jackass.
Update: Gammons, you unutterable slug:
If Selig and Fehr think their performance gets them off the hook, they're wrong. Every day that Bonds runs at Babe Ruth and Henry Aaron, the nation and Congress will be reminded of this issue. In December, 1994, when President Clinton offered up Willam Ussery to mediate baseball's labor dispute, both sides spit on him [one union official called Ussery "senile"] and the Clinton administration."Stonewalling"? The most amazingly transparent grandstanding, and all Gammons can do is don the ol' stormtrooper gear. Bend over, Pete, I've got a needle right here for ya...They'd better not do it again this time. Oh, they will try to throw lobbyist dollars to preserve their anti-trust exemption, but if they keep up the stonewalling, maybe they'll get what they deserve. One of Selig's favorite phrases is "we are where we are."
Comments:
"What crime was he supposed to be accused of, again? Jackass." Maybe this is an obvious point, but I don't think McCain's comments were in reference to *needing* a lawyer - as much as it was about the quality of advice he got from his current lawyer.
He is a man who does not believe in limits to government; indeed, this whole farce has been about exerting Congressional power beyond any reasonable notion of scope. This is the House Committee on Government Reform, yes? Not the Judicial Committee? Is there a point here besides McCain and his greasy pals wanting to get elected?
