D-Mac Near To Callup

Pearly Gates passes on this Times article indicating D-Mac is about to get called up for tonight's game. About friggin' time, but I'm betting he hits his first big slump before the All-Star break. The kid can rake, no doubt, but his K rate has increased each level. Still, Glaus had the same problem and he's wailin' 'em out of the park at the BoB.

Update: Will Carroll in his latest Under The Knife column at Baseball Prospectus has this to say about master McPherson:

The Angels are prepping for the return of Dallas McPherson. The slugger spent the better part of the spring dealing with a lower back injury that everyone believes is caused by his high torque swing [emphasis mine]. It's a known quantity now so it can be watched and treated, much as with Todd Helton or Mike Sweeney. I think Sweeney is an interesting comp; imagine McPherson as Sweeney with more power and less contact and you're on to something.
Translated, no guarantees but that we see him spending time on the DL because of this.
