Dodger Roster Moves
From the San Gabriel Valley Tribune:
- After getting hit hard in an exhibition game yesterday, Ryan Rupe likely won't make the team, though DePodesta hasn't said as much; instead, it'll be Buddy Carlyle. Rupe, who had been a starter through most of his career, won't be needed now that Elmer Dessens has been assigned the fifth rotation slot.
- Brad Penny is expected to pitch Sunday in an intrasquad game, against Ryan Ketchner.
- Jayson Werth will miss opening day, with Ricky Ledee and Jason Repko taking up the slack until he returns.
[N]othing is guaranteed in this game, other than your guaranteed contract. This is my fourth significant injury in the past 365 days. It's frustrating. But there is nothing I can do about it other than prove to them when I am healthy that they made the right decision by giving me the job.
- "The Dodgers have reached a handshake agreement with the Mexico City Red Devils that will allow them to purchase [Oscar] Robles' contract during the season if a need arises."
