Roster Notes
- Former Dodger Paul Schuey has retired from baseball, giving up a comeback attempt with Cleveland.
- Maicer Izturis has been placed on the 15-day DL, with a sprained left knee. He was injured fielding ground balls during batting practice.
- The Giants have disabled closer Armando Benitez, with a strained hamstring. His roster spot will be replaced with Scott Munter from the Giants' AAA Fresno farm team.
Update: Benitez tore two of three tendons that attach to his pelvis. He will be down for four months, but the injury is not believed to be career-threatening.
Yeah, right.

Let's not overlook the most important aspect of the Benitez DL stint: it catalyzes the return of Matt Herges, Closer. Let the good times roll.
