Bonds Immobilized, On 24-Hour I.V. Drip

Due to a post-op infection; the question now, apparently, is whether he will return to baseball at all.

And no, Giants fans, this is not gloating, not at all.

Comments:
If the infection gets to the cartilage or heaven forbid, the bone, he's finished.

His retirement can't come soon enough for me but I do hope he recovers from this.

Bah.

I'm not going to lie and say I don't care if Bonds comes back or not, but let's just say that if it turns out he can't, then I am "emotionally prepared" to deal with it.

The Giants have plenty of problems on the field without worrying about a problem off the field -- a problem in which the status hasn't really changed since it was discovered. Bonds out for a while, maybe back by All-Star break, maybe later.

Isn't that what ESPN is reporting right now after this "shocking setback"? Outside shot at the All-Star break, but likely later? The added shock-value of "perhaps never coming back" has littered this story since its inception, but nobody ever bothered give that notion any legs to run with.

I hate even wasting time writing on the blog about this. I want new news, I want fresh news...
