More Roster Moves
- Released Yankee reliever Steve Karsay (6.00 ERA, 6 IP) has signed with the Rangers. The Yanks are on the hook for most of his $5M salary remaining; the Rangers will only pay league minimum. The Rangers have suffered from injuries to Frank Francisco (out since 3/25 with elbow problems) and Carlos Almanzar (14.40 ERA, 5.0 IP, out the remainder of the season due to elbow problems).
- Detroit catcher Pudge Rodriguez and OF Dmitri Young were both injured during today's game. Pudge bruised his toe; X-rays were negative, and is listed as day-to-day. Young twisted his ankle trying to beat out an infield hit.
- Reaching further into their depth chart, the M's have disabled catcher Wiki Gonzalez, after straining a left hamstring. Gonzalez was hitting .375/.375/.625 in 16 at bats. Gonzalez came up through the Padres minor leagues with cups of coffee in 1999 through 2003. His replacement will be Rene Rivera from AA San Antonio.
- Odalis Perez will have an MRI done on his left (throwing) shoulder to find out the reason for the "impingement".
