Kill The Ump! White Sox 4, Dodgers 3

The Dodgers got robbed on Kent's play at first; Podsednik was clearly out on the replays, but that made no nevermind to first base ump Larry Young. So, the Sox duly scored, the Dodgers found another way to lose, and the skid extends to six consecutive games.

Despite the cheerless subhead on the MLB.com game recap, in fact this was Weaver's best game since the Detroit series. His ERA is back below 5.00, for the first time since April 17th. You could as easily say that Weaver's errant throw to first lost the game; but it was Sanchez's hold to lose in the eighth, and he lost it.

There was a moment in the game where Tracy appeared to be in the dugout having an extremely painful bout with intestinal gas. That's how I felt about the game. Sure, it's a long season, blah blah, but the Dodgers need to start convincing me they can win. Otherwise, it's time to start moving pieces to actual contending teams. The National League right now consists of the St. Louis Cardinals and fifteen other clubs that won't make it into the World Series. One of those fifteen, even if they win the division, will be the Dodgers.
