Roster Moves
- The A's activated Kiko Calero, and optioned Seth Etherton.
- One of the goats of Sunday's game against the Dodgers, former Angel Gary Glover, was DFA'd, bringing up C Julio Mosquera.
- Rockies' SS Clint Barmes will undergo surgery for a fractured left clavicle; he will miss three months. "Barmes, 26, was one of the few bright spots for Colorado, leading NL rookies in numerous categories, including batting average (.329), home runs (8) and RBIs (34)."
- Also heading to the DL for Colorado, C Todd Greene, with a strained right hamstring.
To replace Barmes and Greene on their roster, the Rockies purchased the contracts of catcher Danny Ardoin and infielder Tim Olson from Class AAA Colorado Springs of the Pacific Coast League. The club also designated lefthander Randy Williams for assignment.
Ardoin ranks sixth in the Pacific Coast League in batting with a .338 average. The 30-year-old has six homers and 24 RBIs to go along with a .577 slugging percentage in 44 games with the Sky Sox. - Update: Wilson Alvarez returns to the DL with a shoulder impingement.
- Vlad Guerrero is able to swing a bat. His return date is still uncertain, but he will definitely miss the upcoming weekend series with the Mets.
