Steve Finley Joins The DL
Steve Finley joins Kelvim Escobar on the 15-day DL, retroactive to June 21; due to a strained right shoulder. In his place, Curtis Pride will come up from his rehab start.
Comments:
Seriously, What use is Pride? Did anyone ever think of giving Luke Allen, Brian Gordon, or Nick Gorneault a shot?
Player AB H 2B 3B HR BB SO AVG OBP SLG OPS
Allen 217 64 10 3 13 26 36 .295 .369 .548 .917
Gordon 177 50 12 1 10 16 45 .282 .338 .531 .869
Gorneault 235 71 15 6 11 22 60 .302 .356 .557 .913
Pride 154 47 10 3 6 31 32 .305 .392 .526 .918
Other than Gordon, looks like a crapshoot. Wouldn't hurt to give a new guy a chance.

I thought Pride was out of options? Therefore, if the Angels decide to send him down again, he has to clear waivers. Not that I think it's a buyer's market for utility outfielders in their 30s with so-so offensive talent, but it was just a puzzlement. Someone has to go down when Donnelly's suspension starts, since the team has to play with 24 men while Donnelly's out. Scioscia already said that they will need to bring up another pitcher to help with the 'pen, and that he was happy to get Izturis back to help with infield backup, so who goes down?
