How Sweep It Isn't: Yankees 4, Angels 1
For a long, long time, it looked like Wash was going to do another one of his patented high-wire acts and hold down that 1-0 lead. Too bad the Yanks had other ideas, and finally broke through against the Angels, in a game where Vlad failed to homer. In some ways I was actually more excited to see him single, because his slump is becoming profounder and profounder. He's hitting only .171 on the month, and it's the first time in his career, according to Fizz, that's happened. He's due, anyway.
The Angels hit into three double plays, and while I don't have the stats easily to hand, that's gotta be a season high. They're usually pretty good about avoiding those. Some great defensive plays, including an "almost" by Figgins.
Sometimes, you're the bug. But these bugs are still up by five and a half games over the A's.
