Penny Suspended Five Games

Brad Penny was suspended for five games for "inappropriate and aggressive actions" following an ejection in his July 14 start against San Francisco. Penny will appeal the suspension, scheduled to begin Friday.

Comments:
isn't a five game suspension for a starter really just a one game suspension?

Essentially, yes. The idea is that they will miss a turn. That's why Kenny Rogers' 20-day suspension really isn't that impressive; it's only four appearances.

But the chunk coming out of The Gambler's paycheck, that'll be impressive.

Bonderman got a five-game suspension. Well, I'm not telling you that, MLB is telling you that. Or, I'm telling you that MLB is telling you that.

I didn't see the fine, but I doubt it even comes close to a substantial chunk of change from the Chicken Man.
