Pickoff Moves
A's 9, White Sox 8
While the Angels were busy being swept by the worst team in the division, the A's were busy sweeping the team with the best record in baseball. Oh, joy.Roster Moves
- The Padres activated Pedro Astacio for today's game against the Rockies, which the Pads won 8-5. Astacio went only three innings, walking four and striking out two. Paul Quantrill got the win pitching in relief.
- Barry Bonds might return in mid-August. Or he might not. He has not begun any baseball-related activities. C'mon, Barry, give it up and demand a trade to an AL team.
- The Pirates optioned former Dodger Dave Ross to AAA Indianapolis, in order to make room for Craig Wilson.
Administrivia: Minor League Updates
Posting has been thin around here for the last few days for a few reasons: I was at the park Friday night; we had friends over today; and I've been working on automating minor league updates. The "We Could Be Heroes" feature takes me about an hour to complete, and that's a lot of work on a regular basis. Much of it can be automated, a project I've been working on over the last few days. More later.
Comments:
i think for the second half, the AL west race might be as competitive as we thought it would be at the beginning of the season, with texas hanging in there and oakland turning it around. too bad the angels get to start the action with a 5-game lead already.
with the NL west being so pathetic, at least an exciting AL west gives me a reason to watch baseball at all.
