Roster Moves
- The A's traded Chad Bradford to the Boston Red Sox in exchange for OF Jay Payton.
- Also, the A's moved Eric Byrnes and cash to the Rockies in exchange for LHP Joe Kennedy and reliever Jay Witasick. Kennedy, a starter with the Rockies, will move into the A's bullpen. The Rockies will also acquire "top prospect" Omar Quintanilla (.293/.347/.395 in 294 AB at Midland). The former "second baseman of the future" for Oakland, he was Baseball America's eighth-rated prospect in their system going into 2005.
- The Rockies also acquired Zach Day and OF J.J. Davis from the Nationals, for OF Preston Wilson and cash.
