Your analysis ignores the fact that the Dodgers would have had to pay Green $16 million this year if they hadn't traded him. That first $10 million is essentially a sunk cost if you're ignoring Navarro. So, it's either pay Green $6 million or pay Saenz / Choi less than $1 million for the same production. The Dodgers still make out well in this one.
 
I actually meant to address that, but I needed to go to bed last night. My rejoinder: so what? The Dodgers would still be getting better production from first base, and Green would be gone after this year anyway. It's not like the $6M difference has been applied in any meaningful way, anyhow.
