Eight Game Division Leads Don't Just Disappear: Devil Rays 6, Angels 3
Losses that big have to be earned, and the Angels are doing it now. Christamighty damn, what the hell is wrong with this team? The Devil Rays, f'r chrissakes...
Update: And it's final, 6-3, in a completely embarrassing contest. Steve Finley went 0-4, popping out weakly in his last at bat, striking out in two others, and making two fielding errors.
I continue to await any kind of explanation from management as to why this guy isn't (a) benched at the very least, or (b) cut outright.
Comments:
Somewhere around midseason the Devil Rays turned it around. They have the third best record in the league (or is MLB) since the break.
In other words, they are not the doormat your question implies.
The Royals, on the other hand... Yet the A's and Red Sox each just lost 2 of 3 to them.
In short, don't panic!

Steve Finley is a nice guy. And he tries hard. And he's a good clubhouse influence. And he's agreed to wash Mike Scioscia's car all during the offseason if he gets to stay in the lineup.
