Houlton Held Up: Nationals 3, Dodgers 1
Another game where rookie D.J. Houlton did his job, but the Dodger offense failed him, with Houlton going six innings and only giving up two earned runs. The two key moments of this game were Izturis getting thrown out ahead of Bradley's home run ball, and Bradley's idiotic bunting for the second night in a row. Tracy claims it wasn't what he wanted Bradley to do:
Manager Jim Tracy tried to be diplomatic when asked if that was what he wanted Bradley to do.I consider it a cry to fire Tracy, who's called for equally stupid maneuvers in the past -- why, as recently as Sunday. By bunting, he took the bat not only out of his own hand, but that of Jeff Kent as well. Stupid, stupid, stupid, just like Tracy playing Phillips at first for the fourth game running."I don't think so," he said. "He represents the go-ahead run, that's definitely not the situation to consider bunting. I think he saw something with the depth of [third baseman Vinny] Castilla and Kent on deck. In that situation, you've got a shot with him and Kent and [Jose] Valentin and you hope with [Olmedo] Saenz."
