As expected, D-Mac's back, and also as expected, he struck out in half of his at-bats. Blecch. Brian Specht increased his hitting streak to 16 games, and Luke Allen was ejected at home plate.
2005-08-08: Arkansas 12, Midland 10
Aybar, E: 3-6, 3 RBI
Willits, R: 4-5, 4 RBI
Kendrick, H: 2-6, 1 RBI
Napoli, M: 0-3, 2 BB, 1 RBI

Porter: 2-5, 1 RBI
Shell: (W, 9-7), 5.0 IP, 6 ER, 8 H, 6 K, 2 BB, 4.44 ERA
Whatta slugfest! Two Travs, Aybar and Murphy, had a three-hit game, Reggie Willits had a four-hit game, and Howie Kendrick, Kendry Morales, and Gregory Porter all had two hits each. All of Murphy's hits were doubles, as were half of Willits'; Kendrick tripled, and Kendry homered and walked. Steven Shell got the win despite surrendering six earned runs, though he did strike out six, too. Recent acquisition Alex Serrano got a save while giving up an earned run, striking out two in an inning of work.

Abreu, T: 0-3
Jackson: (W, 5-4), 8.0 IP, 0 ER, 3 H, 8 K, 1 BB, 3.83 ERA
Miller: 1.0 IP, 0 ER, 0 H, 2 K, 1 BB, 0.00 ERA
Okay, now am I allowed to say Jackson had a good outing? One K per inning, no earned runs allowed, and only one walk and three hits. That's why you demote guys, with the hope of improvement later on. This also appears to be Greg Miller's first assignment at Jacksonville, and bully for him. The Suns' opponent was Josh Hall, a seventh-round pick in the 1998 draft who actually got a cup of coffee in 2003 with the Reds; otherwise, his highest level was AA that same year. He didn't play at all in 2004, leading me to think "Tommy John" or similar circumstances. He's doing well this year, though, with a 3.19 ERA with Chattanooga in 79.0 IP and a 63/28 K/BB ratio.
