Not So Fast: Baker Denies Exit Request
Worried Dusty Baker might be thinking about managing the Dodgers? Don't be:
Bristling at a report that he is campaigning to leave the Cubs and join another organization, manager Dusty Baker said Sunday, "I've never not honored a contract in my entire life.""I didn't sign here for four years to think about going somewhere else," Baker said in reaction to a report in the Los Angeles Times that he wants to manage the Dodgers.
Comments:
Usually the vehement denial is a sure giveaway.... he'll be here next season a la Larry Brown.
This time I'm not so sure. Unless Baker is released through a mutual agreement, in other words the Cubs don't want him anymore, he does have a history of honoring his contracts.
The real caveat would be whether McCheap would be willing to pay the big bucks and the long term contract Baker would command.
I doubt it.
