Pickoff Moves, Bedtime Edition

Bobby JenKs

A useful observation by David Pinto: Bobby Jenks now has a 2.79 ERA in 19.1 IP with 26 strikeouts. I'm not sure I buy the "how could Stoneman have known?" argument, because it's not like Jenks wasn't a top prospect at one time or another.

Doc Gooden Turns Himself In

The whole sorry fiasco of Dwight "Doc" Gooden comes to a resting place, for now, with Gooden turning himself in after driving off from a DUI stop in Florida. He was wanted on domestic violence charges as well.

Marlins Milk-Drinking Batboy Gets Suspension -- And Featured In A Promotion

Though he may have been suspended for taking Brad Penny's dare to drink a gallon of milk in an hour (six days -- more than Palmiero for taking steroids!), the Milk Processor Education Program wants to pay him $500, the amount of the dare, along with any money he lost while on suspension, so long as he limits himself to three glasses a day.

Further, the Fort Myers Miracle, the AAA team for the Marlins, have asked that he show up as an honorary batboy for one game, at which all kids 14 and under will be given a pint of milk.

"It's ridiculous that they worry about stuff like that. It shows they [the Marlins organization] don't know anything about the game. That kind of stuff goes on everywhere. It didn't affect the way he worked, the way he did his job," [Penny] said.

Milton Bradley On DL

Milton Bradley has officially gone on the 15-day DL. 15 days or no, he's probably done for the year and possibly as a Dodger. Mike Edwards got the callup from AAA Las Vegas.

In related news, Cesar Izturis sat out tonight's game with lower back pain that goes all the way down his leg, preventing him from swinging a bat. He says he was injured during the Nationals series and hasn't been right since. He may join Bradley on the DL.
