Minor League Scorebook

2005-09-09: Salt Lake did not play
2005-09-09: Tulsa vs. Arkansas: Missing report #
A parsing error, this game was scheduled in case Tulsa won any of the preceding games. Hee!

In related news, the San Antonio Missions refused to roll over and beat the Rockhounds 5-1, forcing a fifth game in the series, to be played tomorrow night.

2005-09-09: Rancho Cucamonga did not play
2005-09-09: Cedar Rapids did not play
2005-09-09: AZL Angels did not play
2005-09-09: Ogden 1, Orem 2 #
Trumbo: 0-2, 2 BB
Arredondo: (W, 1-0), 8.0 IP, 0 ER, 2 H, 13 K, 1 BB, 0.00 ERA
Talk about a tight game. Both sides pitched well, with Orem pitching just a little better than Ogden. Jose Arredondo, who started the season with Arkansas, had easily the best game of his year. Orem goes up 1-0 in the best-of-three series, with game 2 in Ogden tomorrow.
2005-09-09: Las Vegas did not play
2005-09-09: Birmingham 2, Jacksonville 4 #

Broxton: 1.0 IP, 0 ER, 1 H, 1 K, 0 BB, 0.00 ERA
Fresh out of no-hitters today, the Suns had to settle for a win as they beat the team that came up victorious in their last six regular season meetings. Joel Guzman provided nearly all the offense on a bases-clearing double. The Suns are now 2-0 in the best-of-five series. The playoff series continues tomorrow in Birmingham, with the victor going on to play the West Tennessee Diamond Jaxx, who swept their playoff series with the Carolina Mudcats.

Update: Baseball America has more on Thursday's no-no by Billingsley and Broxton:

"Those guys could have beaten most major league clubs last night," [Diamond Jaxx manager Razor] Shines said. "They were filthy. You knew early on that it was going to be a tough night, just because Billingsley was locating with everything. And then they brought in Broxton, who just blows your doors clean off. We'll get another shot at him, but I'm just glad Billingsley's done."
What a great baseball name, Razor Shines!
