Not Paying Attention Dep't: On Konerko

Matt Hurst of the Press-Enterprise wonders aloud why the Angels don't pick up free agent Paul Konerko in the upcoming offseason. Well, here's some reasons:
  1. He'll be 30 in the first year of his contract. No more aging players for me, thanks.
  2. He strikes out in about 20% of his at bats, consistently, making him a bad fit philosophically for the Angels.
  3. The Angels already have a pair of 1B/DH types either in the system or at the major league level now. What are Kotchman and Kendry Morales, sliced Velveeta?
