Pickoff Moves, Shirley, You're Kidding Edition

Popgun: Giants 2, Dodgers 1

For all the effusive praise being spun on guys like Oscar Robles and suchlike, you hope the Dodgers realize this is so much window dressing and not intended for internal consumption. Willy Aybar and his solo shot notwithstanding, this is not a good offense. Teams that believe their own press releases don't generally make it to the postseason.

Anderson provided the late boost, rookie Santana held down the Tigers, and I found myself not caring that the Angels have a two-game lead over the A's; the Angels still have to prove themselves versus Oakland head-to-head, and their play of late makes it clear they don't believe they're going anywhere special.
