Angels Notes: Bart's Shoulder, Bud Black's Future, World Series Tix

Comments:
i think playoff/world series tickets should only go on sale AFTER a team has clinched a playoff or world series berth. it's gotta be one of the worst feelings to have a world series ticket in your hand for a game your team won't even be playing in.

'Twas ever thus, though; I can recall the Dodgers selling playoff tickets long before they had clinched, and I think one year when they weren't even close, but could smell it.

It's largely a matter of logistics. You just can't wait until one playoff series is concluded to start selling tickets to the next one when you're working with as little as a 48-hour turn-around.

On a related note, my favorite memorabilia items up on the walls at Don & Charlie's in Scottsdale are the scads of unused playoff and Series tickets from teams that never made it. The Cubs '89 World Series tickets are particularly poignant.

Me, I could paper the walls with all the unused A's ALCS tickets I've had over the years. But if I wanted to be reminded of failure, all I got to do is look in the mirror.
