The LOS ANGELES DODGERS are now accepting applications/resumes for the following position:
Title:Assistant Director, Public Relations
Department: Public Relations
Status: Full time/Exempt
Reports to: Director, Public Relations

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: include
the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Duties include game notes, post-game notes and news
releases, among others. Responsible for pre-game on-field PR for media
interview coordination and player requests. Split travel with the
director and attend Spring Training. Develop strong relationships with
players and clubhouse personnel. Help shape the direction of the
department. Work with the Director of Publications to create the annual
Media Guide.
- Game Notes Preparation - Assist in researching, writing and proofing of game notes. Help with road game notes.
- PR Strategy - Along with Sr. VP and Director, will drive organization's long range PR strategy.
- Pro-active PR - Create a calendar of monthly PR focus. Pitch player story ideas.
- Editor of Media Guide and Postseason Media Guide - Coordinates with the Director of Publications, all aspects of the media guides including design, content, assignments and most importantly a production schedule that should start just after the baseball season gets under way. Coordinates with the director the bid process and the selection of a printing company.
- Coordinates Incoming Player and Executive Interviews - Works closely with director and office coordinator.
- Pre-Game Field PR - Regulate field media access. Includes coordinating with director all on-field and clubhouse activity. Player photos. Pitch story ideas.
- Post Game Notes - Compile and write during the game prior to distribution.
- Write Baseball News Releases and Reports - Contributing writer for all baseball news releases. Help research and prepare special reports requested by the field staff and general manager (may only need to manage these projects). Oversee a uniform writing style for all documents originating from PR office.
- Assist Media with Game Day Requests.
- Work Closely with Community Affairs - Coordinate with media services.
- Work Closely with Radio Stations On-Air Personnel; Invites to Stadium to broadcast from field.
- Oversee Official Scoring.
- Travel: Will travel approximately half of the road games, Spring Training and possibly attend Winter Meetings, PR meetings.
- Spring Training Duties
- Computer Uniformity: Responsible for working with IT to make sure all PR Department computers have all the needed fonts to work on media guides and write releases.
Must be able to have good interaction with reporters and the media, and possess a creative and proactive ability to encourage positive stories and features on the players, the facilities, events, etc. while reinforcing the overall marketing message of the team.
College degree. A minimum of 3-5 years in a professional or collegiate sport setting. Strong written and oral communication skills. Able to work outdoors for approximately 40% of the time. Must be in good health, able to travel frequently and on planes on a regular basis. Must have worked in a setting where long, non-standard hours are the norm. Bilingual (Spanish-speaking) candidate preferred but not required.
