Minor League Scorebook
News:
- In this MLB.com article about Kendry Morales, we learn that Kendry leads the league in doubles, and his .439 OBP puts him in the AFL's elite. Brandon Wood may have more homers, but his offensive production has slacked off lately, going 5-21 lately.
- Andy LaRoche updated his journal yesterday. He's still struggling to get his first home run.
2005-11-04: Peo Saguaros 3, Surprise 4 #
Anderson: 0-2, 2 BB, 1 K
Kendrick: 1-5
Butler: 0-2, 2 BB
Wood: 0-4, 1 K
Tupman: 1-3, 1 HR, 1 RBI, 1 BB
Buchholz: 4.0 IP, 0 ER, 1.50 ERA
Doyne: (W, 2-1) (in relief), 2.0 IP, 0 ER, 1 H, 2 K, 0 BB, 8.25 ERA
The Scorpions won the game in a wild ninth following a Guillermo Quiroz error. Catcher Quiroz surrendered a passed ball, allowing Cody Haerther to second. Then, Peoria 2B Brendan Harris threw one away, allowing Haerther to score and Tupman to reach second. Following an intentional pass to Josh Anderson, Howie Kendrick singled in the winning run, though he failed to get an RBI.

Ball: 2-5, 1 K
Drew: 2-4, 1 3B, 2 RBI, 1 BB
LaRoche: 0-4, 1 K
Loney: 1-4, 1 RBI, 1 BB
Avlas: 2-4, 1 K
Shields: 6.0 IP, 1 ER, 1.74 ERA
Kohn: 2.0 IP, 0 ER, 1 H, 2 K, 0 BB, 5.25 ERA
Daigle: (W, 2-0) (in relief), 1.0 IP, 0 ER, 2 H, 0 K, 0 BB, 3.75 ERA
I was watching this game crawl by on Gameday today, and it was mighty cool to see James Loney come in and get the RBI single that won the game. It was pretty funny, too, because the game would have been called a tie if they had completed the inning and the score remained unchanged (2-2); them's the AFL rules. The way the game was won -- after an RBI single with men on first and second -- was almost a replay of the top half of the inning, where Casey Daigle nearly gave away the game by getting into a men-on-the-corners jam with one out. Fortunately, he coaxed a double-play from David Espinosa and got out of the inning.

This marks the seventh straight game the Dogs have won. James Loney has had 14 RBIs in his last 10 games. Woot!
Comments:
in andy laroche's journal, he makes a point of singling out a very supportive fan named susan, so i just thought i'd try to read between the lines a little, hehe. i wasn't being serious anyway.
