Roster Notes
Various and sundry bits culled from Rotoworld:
- The Rangers are looking at Juan Pierre to play left field, possibly because the team is shopping Kevin Mensch for pitching.
- In that same Star-Telegram article, the Rangers also are expected to get a deal done with A's free agent Octavio Dotel by the end of the winter meetings.
- Not a roster note per se, but the Rangers are investigating how to make Ameriquest Field less hitter-friendly.
- The Red Sox are trying to get the Angels and Dodgers involved in a deal with pitcher David Wells, who has requested a trade to a west coast team, and preferably to the Padres. The Padres aren't especially enthusiastic about a trade.
- The Orioles have offered Paul Byrd a two-year contract worth between $10M and $13M.
- Erick Aybar went 4-6 with a double and three runs scored for Licey.
- The White Sox want an answer from free agent Paul Konerko on whether he will re-sign by December 8. As Rotoworld observes, it's kind of ridiculous for them to say this considering they haven't issued him a contract offer yet.
