A New Travs Blog
I received an e-mail today from one [removed at his request, 3/26/07] concerning his blog, Travelerocity, about Angels AA Texas League affiliate, the Arkansas Travelers. By way of a kickoff (at least, relative to my knowledge of the site), he's got a good summary post about the Hot Stove open house, which has a number of good bullet points, including
- The Travs will get a state-of-the-art $1 million scoreboard, which should be near-major league quality.
- The new stadium, Dickey-Stephens Park in North Little Rock, will have $5 parking (in one lot only, though), assigned seating (boo), and a beer garden (yay!).
- Tony Reagins, the Angels' director of player development, has said Brandon Wood will start the year with the Travs. We've heard this from other places, too, and it's not unexpected given Bill Stoneman's insistance on every player going through every level. But he also thought Wood could be in AAA Salt Lake before the year is out, too.
- Erick Aybar will almost certainly start the season in AAA Salt Lake.
- Kendry Morales will have a shot at skipping Salt Lake entirely (at least, that's how I read this) and starting the season as a reserve 1B/DH.
- The Angels are getting higher on Rob-Deer-behind-the-dish Mike Napoli, and think he could be at the major league level soon.
- Jered Weaver may start at Salt Lake, too.

Hi Rob,
thanks for mentioning me again, I never had so many clicks in one day. I hope I can work my way back to the sidebar one day. ;)

P.S.: I would have commented in the original post, but it didn't work.

I'm a diehard Cubs fan in Little Rock, but I've grown up watching the Travs. I look forward to reading the blog. Thanks for mentioning it!
Hey Anon, you and my dad should get together and catch a game sometime. I've got him hooked on the Cubs, and my folks are there in Little Rock with you.
