Roster Notes

A couple things I missed along the highway... most of these are arbitration cases settled by contract.

Comments:
The Dodgers-Molina rumor, which has been reported several times over the past few weeks, has always struck me as odd. Why would the Dodgers acquire Molina with D. Navarro & Alomar already on the roster? Doesn't make sense.

The fact that it's being reported on by East Coast -- not to mention Canadian -- media tells you that it's almost certainly gas being used to manufacture interest in the suddenly uninteresting Molina. You're exactly right that the Dodgers' catching situation looks pretty set.

I feel sorry for Bengie. Maybe the Angels will take him back after May 1...

I posted this here before: The Dodgers SHOULD sign Molina and trade Navarro (assuming he has value as a low-cost player) for pitching. Clears room for Martin, the heir-apparent, behind the plate,

The problem with that is that

a) Molina will want a multi-year contract (though at this point it's far from clear he'll be able to get it).
b) Navarro is a serviceable, and more importantly, cheap player behind the dish. That has value on a team whose payroll just cleared $100M.
