Rosenthal: Molina Close To One-Year Deal With Toronto
Ken Rosenthal claims that the Blue Jays are close to signing Bengie Molina on a one-year, $5M deal with a $7.5M option in 2007.
Update: Rotoworld accurately points out that if this signing were to proceed, it effectively scotches Jason Phillips catching on anywhere in the Blue Jays organization. My guess is he would probably be remanded to AAA or released.
Update 2: The AP says its official, with a $1.5M signing bonus and a $3M salary this year, with a $7.5M mutual option next year with a $500,000 buyout.
