Yesterday's News: Channel 56 The Backup Plan?

Since yesterday was spent decompressing from the drive back from Phoenix, I didn't get to this Times story about Arte's snail's-pace negotiations for the team's TV contract. Despite earlier noises that the deal was almost done, time keeps slipping away, and the closer the Angels get to the regular season without ink on paper, the closer they get to losing revenue. Fox is probably using this as negotiating leverage, but Arte's talking to channel 56 to have them air "most" of the team's games, just in case.

If You're Going To Make A Statement, Don't Whisper

Despite a series of consecutive lousy season, Mariners fans are largely taking it with aplomb; so far, season ticket sales are only down by 2,000. Hope dies hard...

Dayn Perry Ranks The Farm Systems

Dayn Perry ranks farm systems, and puts the Dodgers on top, while dropping the Angels to fifth, behind the Snakes, Marlins, and Indians, as rated by the number of prospects showing up on his top 100. If rated on his point system (100 points for the first-rated prospect on his top 100, 99 for the second rated prospect, etc.), the Angels turn around and beat Cleveland, but the Dodgers slip to second place, too, behind the Diamondbacks.
