Tim Salmon On Fan Support

Timmy checks in:
One thing that's really stood out is the reaction from the fans. My wife has spent the last couple of games at the park, and the fans have really given me a great show of support. People in the stands are like, "Whoa, Fish is back!" We'll be doing our pre-game stretch and guys on the team will turn and say, "What's going on over there?" It makes you feel like a rock star.

It's nice to hear, but it's kind of embarrassing because it puts more attention on me. I like to fly under the radar sometimes because it helps me keep my focus.

As an athlete, one thing I've come to appreciate is the impact we make on our communities. That was never something that drove me. But being out of the game and coming back and seeing the crowd's response, I'm like, "Whoa! I guess I have been here a long time."

We see a lot of red in the stands. And the fans in Anaheim have always shown their appreciation to me for being part of the team that won the World Series. I heard it last year walking around town or on the beach, and I'm starting to sense it a little more now. I think everybody is genuinely excited for me and hopeful I can come back.

Damn straight.
