Minor League Scorebook

News

I didn't start this post off originally with any news as I hadn't found any, but there's a string of good posts at Travelerocity about the new North Little Rock stadium and the local government's attempts to keep the stadium's finances secret from the public paying for them: Travelerocity is easily the best blog covering a specific minor league team I've ever seen, and deserves a strong commendation for their work.

Scores

2006-04-09: Salt Lake 6, Tucson 8 #
Aybar, E: 1-4, 2 RBI, 1 K
Kendrick, H: 2-4, 2 RBI, 1 K
McPherson: 0-4, 4 K
Napoli, M: 0-3, 1 BB
Morales: 1-4
Murphy: 0-4, 1 K
Specht: 0-1, 3 BB
Willits, R: 0-2, 1 BB, 1 K
Bootcheck: 3.0 IP, 2 ER, 6.00 ERA
Rouwenhorst: (BS, 1)(L, 0-1) (in relief), 1.2 IP, 4 ER, 4 H, 1 K, 1 BB, 13.50 ERA
Bulger: 1.1 IP, 0 ER, 0 H, 3 K, 1 BB, 0.00 ERA
Man, it's a good thing Dallas McPherson doesn't have anything to prove at AAA. Otherwise, I'd be skeptical of a guy who collects a golden sombrero against minor league pitching, and ten in his first 16 at bats. And what's this with him garnering an error at first base? Uh...

Jonathan Rouwenhorst took the loss when he just couldn't get the third out in the seventh; Curtis Pride made the last out by striking out looking by Jeff Bajenaru. Meanwhile, Howie Kendrick is hitting .529. Jebus.

2006-04-09: Arkansas 5, Springfield 8 #
Wood: 0-3, 1 BB, 2 K
Brown: 2-4, 1 K

Rodland: 2-4, 1 RBI, 1 K
Buckley: (L, 0-1) (in relief), 1.2 IP, 2 ER, 3 H, 1 K, 2 BB, 10.80 ERA
Well, you can't hit home runs every night...
2006-04-09: Bakersfield 3, Rancho Cucamonga 4 #
Rodriguez, S: 2-4, 1 2B, 1 RBI, 2 K
Collins: 1-4, 1 HR, 2 RBI, 1 K
Toussaint: 0-3, 1 BB, 1 K
Lopez: 1-2
Arredondo: 5.0 IP, 1 ER, 5 H, 7 K, 0 BB, 1.80 ERA
Posey: (BS, 1)(W, 1-0) (in relief), 2.0 IP, 1 ER, 4 H, 2 K, 1 BB, 4.50 ERA
Jepsen: 1.0 IP, 0 ER, 0 H, 2 K, 2 BB, 0.00 ERA
The Quakes swept the Blaze on the strength of Collins' two-run dinger and Jose Arredondo's strong pitching performance. Sean Rodriguez, now hitting .455, is having a hot start.

Alvarez, N: 1-1, 1 HR, 3 RBI, 1 BB
Juarez: (W, 1-0), 5.0 IP, 0 ER, 4 H, 1 K, 2 BB, 0.00 ERA

Simmons: 2.0 IP, 2 ER, 2 H, 2 K, 0 BB, 1 HR, 6.00 ERA
Willy Aybar homered twice -- his first of the season -- in this game that gave the 51's a sweep of Giants affiliate Fresno Grizzlies. The 51's scored 35 runs in the series. Coming up next: the 51's play the newly rechristened Salt Lake Bees.
2006-04-09: Chattanooga 2, Jacksonville 0 (Completed Early: Other) #
Abreu: 0-3
Hu: 0-3
Kemp: 0-3
LaRoche: 0-3

Ojeda: 1.1 IP, 0 ER, 1 H, 3 K, 1 BB, 0.00 ERA
It appears this is the completion game for Saturday's rainout, and that the final game of the series was rescheduled to Monday. Joel Hanrahan actually threw well, but the offense stalled in this abbreviated seven-and-a-half inning game.
2006-04-09: St. Lucie 0, Vero Beach 6 #
Hoffmann: 1-4, 1 BB, 2 K
Paul, X: 1-4, 1 BB, 1 K

Wilson: 2.0 IP, 0 ER, 1 H, 3 K, 1 BB, 0.00 ERA
Quite a game for starter Matt Merricks; despite leaving the game after four, he managed seven strikeouts (but two walks). Travis Denker drove in three, two on a two-run homer, while Ryan Carter got the other dinger.
2006-04-09: Columbus 10, Greenville 5 #
Godwin: 1-4, 1 HR, 3 RBI, 2 K
May: 2-5, 1 3B, 1 RBI, 1 K

Rivera: 1-3, 1 BB
De Jesus: 1-4, 1 HR, 4 RBI

Castillo: (W, 1-1) (in relief), 2.1 IP, 0 ER, 1 H, 4 K, 2 BB, 10.80 ERA
Ivan De Jesus who hits da homers: Greenville had a shot at this one until Columbus ran away with it in the seven-run eighth, including an Ivan De Jesus grand slam that took advantage of an error.
2006-04-09: GCL Dodgers did not play
2006-04-09: Ogden did not play

Comments:
So this Salt Lake-Las Vegas series should be kind of disgusting in terms of all the good prospects playing. Now that would be a minor league road trip worth taking.

So Dallas, nothing left to prove in AAA? What is your definition of "prove."

Thanks for the kind words about Travelerocity and the coverage of what's going down in Little Rock. I'll add that 6-4-2 is the most extensive Major League blog I've come across. I check it every day and view it more as a news site than a blog.

Dallas now has 12Ks in 20 at bats, when do the "he is blocking Wood" arguments start?
