Pickoff Moves

After a seemingly interminable delay from Blogger, here we go...

Today's Birthdays

Ed Bailey CAL b. 1931, played 1966
Milton Bradley LAN b. 1978, played 2004-2005. I was watching part of the A's/Rangers game last night -- which the A's lost 6-3 as Planet Zito got rocked. Bradley batted sixth and went 2-4, and has a .289/.400/.421 line in 38 at bats so far. I liked him up to the point of the marital abuses.
Jeromy Burnitz LAN b. 1969, played 2003. Ah, Mr. Swing-and-miss, I was watching him yesterday (the great fear with Extra Innings is that baseball will consume your life) in the Pirates/Cubs contest yesterday, one the Pirates lost 11-6.
Hub Collins BRO b. 1864, played 1890-1892, d. 1892-05-21
Willie Davis LAN,CAL b. 1940, played 1960-1979
Jack Sheehan BRO b. 1893, played 1920-1921, d. 1987-05-29
Ted Sizemore LAN b. 1945, played 1969-1976

Gotta Find Myself, Find Myself A City To Live In

Was Cody Ross worried about playing time? Nah. But he does like to know his address:
"It takes some pressure off," Ross said. "I wasn't putting any pressure on myself to perform. It was more about trying to find somewhere to live."

Ers-dad

Finally. Erstad is back in the lineup tomorrow, is my guess.

Off By One Bug: Orioles 6, Angels 5; Orioles 3, Angels 2

Combine yesterday's offense with today's pitching, and you have a winner. This stuff isn't as easy as it looks.

It's Going Around: Giants 2, Dodgers 1

Almost the same deal, only at least the Dodgers could console themselves that Doug Eddings was behind the plate. I'm not going to this year's Jackie Robinson fest; combine a homestand against the Giants (and the large number of morons that seems to draw into the stands) with the fact that last year's #42 celebration got hijacked by the merely commercial, and I think I'll stay home and listen to Vinny, thank you very much.

Instant Book Review: Baseball Hacks

Any book that tells you how to decode data on the MLB Gameday servers is an instant hit with me. This is going to be fun.
